True Horrors This Halloween: Normalised things that scare me

These are things that keep me up at night, create anxiety in my chest and stomach, or make me want to not be human anymore…

  • Knowing that men aren’t holding their peers accountable for S.A.
  • Walking the streets at night
  • Walking past groups of men
  • Walking past a man or them walking behind me
  • We’re all just a decision away from being a war-torn country and yet we have little compassion for those who are currently in war-torn countries
  • The mounting evidence against men who commit atrocities but their “futures” are deemed more important than our safety
  • Pregnancy (nausea, vulnerable foetus, hormonal imbalance, mental health instability, lack of control, baby moving)
  • Making a decision that ruins my life forever
  • Losing my family
  • The gap between the wealthy and the starving and the reasons for each
  • The growing divide between political left and right
  • Everyday people being used by the wealthy to point fingers elsewhere (immigrants, lgbtq+ people, feminists) as the issue instead of at those at the top profiting from our in-fighting
  • Being a single mother if my husband passes away
  • Becoming severely depressed again
  • That billionaires control our government
  • Debt or running out of money
  • Never reaching my potential

Sincerely,

S. xx
