November Theme – Making November Matter

Novel November

This happens every November anyway. Last year, I got into it a lot content-wise and I’d love to try to do that again this year (we’ll see). There used to be NaNoWriMo but that has become controversial with support of AI in writing so Novel November is now the Pro Writing Aid version and I love it! I completed it last year and really enjoyed getting involved in the writing sprints, author calls and the tracker with the badges. If you want to join the writing fun, come along as it’s free to join and can be just for you!

This year is a weird one because I’m querying my completed dark academia fantasy novel, editing another completed novel, and writing a new one! So, I might not do the 50,000 but I will be challenging myself to write every day in some way.

No-Buy November

In the run up to Christmas, I want to try a no-buy, especially for books and non-essentials, because this has been an EXPENSIVE year! Moving house and buying a new build etc was a big expense and we got excited. We needed a new car now too with where we live so that’s cut into things. This means a need for conscious spending but more so budgeting, cutting back, a financial awareness.

No-Buy rules:

  1. No new books
  2. Don’t visit a charity shop purposely, that way I won’t feel sad that I can’t buy a book!
  3. I have a £10 Waterstones voucher so I can use that only!
  4. No reckless spending/ unnecessary purchases
  5. No Amazon buys

Nostalgic November

And lastly, purely for vibes and getting into the mood for Christmastime, I’m channelling my inner child with nostalgic films and TV shows. Anything I watched as a child or make me feel like a child again.

  1. Pixar films
  2. Dreamworks films
    1. How to Train Your Dragon
    2. Shrek series
    3. Forgotten Island
  3. Spy Kids
  4. The Goonies
  5. Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit series
  6. Drillbit Taylor
  7. New York Minute
  8. The Lizzie Maguire Movie
  9. Avatar the Last Airbender
  10. Sky High

Sincerely,

S. xx
