Get to Know Me: Confessions

For January, I want to reintroduce myself. I’ve gained new followers and readers, so it seemed apt in January to reacquaint you with who I am and why I’m here.

So, for my first “Get to Know Me” series post, I thought I’d do a playful one: my confessions! *insert dark secret image from Inside Out 2!*

Writer Confessions

I have notes everywhere (phone apps, notebooks, scrap paper)…that I often don’t use

I make a plan…then don’t follow the plan

I write the dialogue or fun bits then go back to fill in the gaps

I became a writer through my love of television not reading as a child

I published my first book at the age of 18 and sort of regret that; it was a massive flop but I was also proud of it

Reading / Bookish Confessions

I often start a book and then decide to start another because I can’t get into it right away

I have started a book journal…then forget to use it

I’m influenced by other people’s opinions of books

I prefer second-hand as it’s less pressure to keep the book pristine

I’m not a natural reader and didn’t grow up reading; it’s an adult love/hobby

Yoga Bad Habits / Confessions

I never script or practice my yoga classes before I record them

I’ve recorded a lot of bad angles and had to cut pieces out

I jumble up my words all the time and edit them out

I get fidgety in svasana sometimes

I watch other online yoga teachers for my own practice rather than doing self-led ones (Charlie Follows, Adriene and Kassandra mostly)

I get excited by advanced poses but don’t practice them enough to get better

General confessions

I want people to like me

I don’t work out very much

I often play video games on easy mode because I’d rather enjoy it than get frustrated over the difficulty!

I sometimes get jealous of my friends and loved ones

I’m in a love-hate relationship with my hair and I’m very close to going full buzzcut

I’ve learned so many things (formal education, reading and YouTube) but I have an awful memory

I own a Kindle so I get my eBooks from Amazon but I no longer buy physical books from there – Amazon is the bottom of my list now for sourcing goods but sadly still shop there sometimes

I often feel like a failure.

Thanks for reading, check back next week for another “Get to Know Me” post.

Sincerely,

S. xx
