Halfway Through 2026: First Half Reflection, Second Half Focus

We are here, we made it! The midpoint of 2026. It’s been…a weird first half. Hard, confusing, sad, very sad. I’ve cried a lot. But that aside, I wanted to quickly reflect on how I chose to split the year in half right from the get-go and why this has been beneficial.

Jan-Jun

ELEMENT: Water

COLOUR: Royal Blue for water energy, depth, flow, power

THEME: Going with the flow

QUOTE: “Each practice {yoga} is a soft landing. A gentle re-orientation. A way of remembering yourself.”

Why?

  • Moved out of our rented home in February
  • Moved in with my mom for 3 months
  • Friend’s wedding in April
  • Moved into our new build home in June
  • Wedding abroad in May
  • Lost my grandad in May

The above meant the first half of the year was planned for me. I wasn’t really in control. Everything felt a little turbulent and untethered. I was adrift. All I could do, therefore, was learn to go with the flow. Move with where the current was taking me at the time.

Jul-Dec

ELEMENT: Fire

COLOUR: Burnt Orange for fire, passion, energy, autumn, burning away old fears

THEME: Make my dreams matter

QUOTE: “My dreams have roots. My visions become real.”

“Return to what matters. Return to what’s already yours”

Why?

I have three finished drafts from last year that I can try to use in some way this year (edit, split and repurpose, beta readers, agent). I also have a new story idea that I’m excited about and has got me writing the last week or so. This means I’m in a better physical and mental space to try to chase my dreams for the latter half of this year.

I’ve already tried to do two park runs a month, which I only dipped on in February. I want to keep this up. I did very well in May to complete 10 hours of running for the Garmin challenge, so I’d like to do something similar again, but probably when the weather cools down in late September. Instead, I will up my level of commitment to my yoga practice and walk a lot. I got into a great habit of walking loads while living at my mom’s so I need to find routes in this new area and keep that up!

One step at a time, as they say

Let me know how your year has been so far and what your intentions are now that we get to revisit our goals, realign, and get moving towards the finish line.

Sincerely,

S. xx
