My Mid-Year Reading Stats

If you want to see my specific books and thoughts, read my Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag post. Here, I wanted to just share the stats as I thought it would be cool to compare how things shift at the end of the year and also help myself focus on areas I’ve been lacking, too.

Total reading count: 28 (as of 29th July)

Non-fiction reads: 2

Audiobook reads: 12

Average rating: 4.14 (wow!!)

White authors: 17 (presumably, for some)

Black authors: 2

Asian authors: 4

Non-white other: 3

LGBTQ+ books: 11

Disabled authors: 1 (that I know of, not everyone shares their disabilities)

Translated works: 2

Reading around the world updates: Taiwan; New Zealand; Turkey; Hungary; Jamaica

5 star reads: 8!!

New go-to authors / authors I want more from:

  • Fredrik Backman;
  • Jen Beagin;
  • Madeline Cash;
  • John Scalzi;
  • Andy Weir;
  • Elif Shafak;
  • Kylie Lee Baker;
  • Caro Claire Burke;
  • Henry Hoake

Next steps

  1. Clearly need to read more black authors
  2. More authors of colour in general
  3. Disabled authors
  4. At least 1 or 2 more translated ideally
  5. Non-fiction books

It’s been a great reading year so far, not gonna lie! After a rocky start, I’m very happy with myself and the books I’ve found lately. Fingers crossed the streak continues!

Sincerely,

S xx
